Who can be a Foster Carer?

Foster Carers can:
- Come from all different backgrounds and families
- Can be individuals, couples and or part of a family
- Can work full time or part time
- Can be retired
- Have children of their own or not
- Own their own home or rent
- Be from any culture, religion or same sex attracted
What is important is that carers provide a safe, nurturing home environment children & young people. Foster carers also need to have a good sense of humour, be flexible, have lots of patience and enjoy spending time with children.
Mandatory requirements are:
- Are over 21 years of ages
- Have a satisfactory Police and working with children check
- Have space in your home for another child
- Complete the mandatory training & receive accreditation
- Complete a health check
- Complete a home and environment check
- Satisfactory referee checks
